In recent times, a growing number of disgruntled NPP (New Patriotic Party) members have voiced their frustration with the current administration. The phrase “all politicians are the same” is becoming a popular escape route for disappointment. But is it a fair comparison—or just a convenient excuse to deflect accountability?
Let’s be clear: not all politicians are the same. And certainly, John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are not cut from the same cloth.
A Tale of Two Leaders
While both have had the opportunity to lead Ghana, their track records, leadership styles, and respect for the people’s mandate are vastly different.
John Mahama led with vision and infrastructure as his backbone. He focused on nation-building, not political point-scoring. His approach was developmental, inclusive, and transparent—even when facing criticism.
Nana Addo, on the other hand, came to power riding a wave of promises—many of which now ring hollow. Today, even his own party faithful admit that much of what was promised remains undelivered. The economic hardships, ballooning national debt, and erosion of institutional independence are realities Ghanaians can no longer ignore.
